Whose hammock is that?
24 01 2007So we got to the boat after packing our stuff and it doesn’t quite look the same as how it did two days ago. Now it is packed with hammocks! We weave our way into the interior of the maze of hammocks to find the spot where we had hung ours on Monday to find ours mostly in the same spot, however there are a lot more around us. All of these people are anglophones however and we quickly make friends with the Aussies, Scots, English, etc. nearby. But there is still a hammock or two close by. Really close. And we haven’t met the owners yet. So we wondered who was going to show up at the last minute. Then about 30 minutes before the boat left, here comes our good friend and former roommate Kevin. His hammock is the one right next to mine. We did not plan for this to happen. We knew Kevin was traveling in Columbia but didn’t know he would be entering Brazil today, let alone on the same boat, let alone in the hammock right next to ours!
That is just so completely amazing! Even more amazing than sitting at a café in Paris and seeing someone you know, which is supposedly what happens if you spend enough time there. It sounds like the boat trip has been a mix of good and not-so-good, but all the various experiences are so different from anything I’ve ever done, and I’m so glad you are letting us in on the adventure!
